I am a second year Youth Development Leadership (YDL) Master’s student at the University of Minnesota. Prior, I worked for six years in alternative secondary education in the south metro, teaching science courses and reconnecting 17 to 21 year old students to an educational path that worked for them. During the pandemic I worked with our small team of educators to shift from a punitive school framework to a tiered support system rooted in restorative justice practices. That work along with the YDL program has pushed me to develop and refine my theory of youth work. I am excited to direct my energy at improving my community alongside young people.
