Tyler was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He obtained his B.S. in Biology at Creighton University. He previously studied arbovirus genotype dynamics in cimicid vectors under Dr. Carol Fassbinder-Orth, as well as bacterial coinfections in C. albicans infections under Dr. Anna Selmecki. Tyler's current research interests are in viral pathogenesis and host response to viral infection. Outside of lab, he enjoys tournament bass fishing, hiking, baking, and cuddling his cat Freyja.
